ilovetheIRS’s freshman solo release “Sidewinder” is an aggressive but addicting blend of hyperpop synth design and Tarentino style drums produced and post-engineered by John Kearney. ilovetheIRS’s snappy, ten syllable measure rhymes keep the listener absolutely rapt or entirely lost depending on the ear. The up-tempo, excited pace of the track is absolutely driving, but occasionally difficult to pace with mentally as the soundscape is so busy. Though short, there’s a surprising amount of variation within the vocal melody, and extremely spacey, light adlibs that assist in balancing out the oaky tones from the snare and low end bass. With assistant songwriting from Ozzyland, Sidewinder is a potent addition to the pop elixir serum.
